Looking to Beat the Heat?    Run, don't walk to Zilker Park and take a dip in Barton Springs Pool - brisk & refreshing year-round!  Interesting fact:  About 100 million years ago the park was home to the flying quetzalcoatlus,  the acquatic mosasaur and other prehistoric creatures..

Austinites love their sports. Each day brings a steady stream of walkers and joggers to Town Lake and other trails and tracks around the city. Other pastimes such mountain biking have become extremely popular. Area lakes and rivers provide plenty of opportunities for water sports, and team-oriented athletes can participate in leagues for everything from softball to ice hockey. A variety of sports activities go on throughout the year for children as well as adults.
